Eidco Secures Belhaven Skilled Nursing Facility Renovation

Firm Seeks to Reinvent the Design of Long-Term Care Sites

CHICAGO, IL (May 10, 2012) – Eidco Construction, one of the fastest growing commercial construction management companies in the United States, today announced that the firm has been awarded a 20,000-square-foot project at Belhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation, a long-term care, skilled nursing facility at 11401 South Oakley St. in Chicago.

The extensive renovation will be completed while the facility is fully occupied and will encompass approximately three floors representing all the common areas, corridors, dining rooms, activity rooms, beauty parlor, physical therapy room, and nurses' stations. It will use a transitional design concept with the latest materials such as modular arts for the nurses' stations, new window treatments, Amtico flooring, luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and complementary designs. For example, the a herringbone design at the nurses' station areas blends in well with the elegant dining room décor, according to Chez Eider, CEO of Eidco Construction.

"There is an increasing hospitality trend within skilled nursing facilities," said Eider. "We feel we are reinventing the design of these facilities to incorporate more home-like qualities with a warm look and feel that will be better for the residents and staff."

At end of each corridor, the team created seating areas for visiting families. The dining room was updated by installing new flooring and using unique eye-catching materials such as 3-D wall panels.

Working with Chris Palestrini of Tri-Care Rehab, the physical therapy area was redesigned with with soothing colors and a floor layout that will enhance the therapy experience for the patients.

The Eidco team members working on the project include Margalit Lankry Design, Senior Project Manager Ed Bogacki, Senior Construction Manager Kevin O'Leary and in-house architect Ryan Wirth. Started in February, the project is expected to be completed in August. Eidco is working on a similar project for Central Nursing & Rehab.

"Throughout this entire process, the Eidco team has made a concerted effort to truly understand and cater to the needs of our residents and staff," said Dino Varnavas, Facility Administrator "That attention to detail comes through in the design and we're delighted to be working with them on this project."
